My professional life began as a musician studying cello at Trinity College of Music in London, England and I continued on to perform and teach in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
In 2004, after a year back in England my fascination for holistic wellness started to evolve. Meditation was already part of my daily life; I discovered Reiki and began to explore alternative and complementary views on wellness. I was introduced to Donna Eden Energy Medicine and the wonders of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I became a Reiki Master and through a fortuitous meeting I began on a weekly basis giving Reiki to people who are homeless at Project HOPE Medical Center in Camden. Witnessing the positive results of Reiki in one of the poorest and most violent cities in the country was my inspiration to become a massage therapist.
Working and volunteering in Camden has enabled me to provide an integration of Massage, Music, Reiki and Energy Work to not only those at Project HOPE but at the Volunteers of America men’s shelter, at Healing Days for those suffering with HIV and to individuals suffering with cancer. Co-organizing wellness retreats and workshops for seniors and youth in Camden to promote the relief of stress and pain has been incredibly rewarding.
Healing SPIRIT in Camden (Strengthening People In Releasing the Impact of Trauma). In October 2013 fellow practitioner Lucy Klein-Gebbinck and myself received grant funding to implement a massage outreach program in Camden. We work with clients traumatized by violence, domestic abuse, poverty and chronic illness. We are seeing some incredible results and I would be happy to talk more with anyone who is interested in hearing about our work as we do our small part in helping to create peace one hand at a time!
Chair Massage in the Workplace introduces people to the calming effects and health benefits of massage. It is quite remarkable to see the positive changes in a clients stress levels in just ten minutes.
Massage at Kemenosh and Associates enables me to integrate a variety of techniques and create a personalized session.
Learning and bringing new modalities to my work as a massage therapist is something I take great pleasure in as I explore the world of holistic wellness. It is my hope that through a compassion centered practice I will be able to make a difference within the lives of all those I have the privilege of working with.
And perhaps you will be one!
